 'THE FUTURE WE DESERVE'

18/11/15 - 04/12/15

In this brief we worked in pairs to expand on the previous workshop, and deep dive into the area of service design. Working towards to IxDA Student Design Awards Challenge, we developed services under the theme of 'The Future We Desrve'. In this theme we specifically considered two focus areas: Empowered citizens and neighbourhood networks.

The first part of this brief, we immersed ourselves into the community. Exploring services that currently exist in the locality, and examining potential design problems that could be re-evaluationed. From interviews and observations, we became aware that there was plenty of community services provided for the public in the neighbourhood, but there was a lack of liaising between the seperate organisations. Back in the studio we started by mapping the neighbourhood, and the services that are currently present.

We quickly began to design a public platform from which local skills and services could be broadcast their activities, needs and what they have to offer. This then developed into an arena where vulnerable people on the margins of society could re-engage with the community. Citizen Connect was born........
