PROGRAMMING INTERACTIONS

26/01/2016-12/02/2016

This 3 week course helped to develop my programming skills. The software used throughout this brief was Processing. Processing is a flexible software sketchbook and a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. Since 2001, Processing has promoted software literacy within the visual arts and visual literacy within technology. There are tens of thousands of students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists who use Processing for learning and prototyping.

This project allowed me to explore the endless capablities of coding as a creative tool, going from the very basic excercises within 'Learning Processing' by Daniel Shiffman (2008) to developing my own interactive programmes. Although, initially a challenging learning curve, I feel by the end of the 3 weeks I had a good understanding of the elements needed to get a programme off the ground. My final demonstration, Welcome to Space, was simple display of the range of tools I had gathered, further learning has opened many more possibilities and it is a skill I am keen to continue growing.
