   'PEOPLE AND PLACE'

21/10/15 - 06/11/15

This project was to design an innovative mobile application which would help to enrich our lives and create a meaningful, rewarding interaction with technology. The central concerns which needed to be addressed were our health, wealth and happiness. Placed in teams, we first began by identifying the area of interest within our group. We quickly settled on the theme of mindfulness, once decided we quickly mapped the target area and market (preparing a stakeholder map and ideal users). We defined our design challenge: There are conflicting views towards the widespread use of social media, how it becomes habitual, impacting on our emotions and mental health.

'Appy'

Appy is a mobile application which has the ability to be seamlessly integrated into the user’s other current mobile social media site use. Appy’s mobile app’s home feed will feature a stream of positive content, curated by both Appy and the user themselves, dependant on their settings. The user can choose what they want to see featured on their home feed, whether it be music, meditation and mindfulness advice, positive quotes and imagery etc. The user also has the option to integrate posts that they have previously liked, saved, pinned, favourited or loved on their other social media sites.

With the express permission of the user, Appy will then post in their own social media feed on other sites. For example, while scrolling through their Facebook newsfeed the user may see a positive quote, posted by Appy, just as they would see a post from a friend. The user has complete control over the frequency that these posts will appear in the social media feeds. Additional features will include the ability to blacklist posts with certain words or tags which the user may not want to see. Within the Appy application the user may also access a ’S.O.S.’ section which would allow them to randomly access short guided meditations or posts that they had specifically chosen to help them during times

of stress. This allows Appy to inject positive posts in the user’s social media feeds, at times where it would be relevant and helpful to them. While using the S.O.S section of the app, and during any video or audio use, Appy will momentarily block notifications from all other apps excluding incoming calls.

Primary Research

ideating/stakeholder maps/potential functions of the application.

Persona/Scenarios

after creating 3 user personas, we then placed these users in scenerios using the application. This was a useful tool to demonstrate to ourselves and clients how the application would function in a real world enviroment.

User Testing

for user testing I devised paper prototyping methods/with the use of invision app a digital click through/ using SMS I was able to inact some Appy functions(notifications)
